TET 2020 Bushfire Appeal

Credit goes to Eden Hills Country Fire Service Facebook

Like every single other Australian out there, the TET Team has been watching the natural disaster that has consumed our entire country in horror and sadness.

It's hard not to want to do something.

I, myself, has pledged that I will begin volunteer firefighting training the moment my duties with the Festival are over and help be a part of the solution for 2021 bushfires, because I sincerely doubt this will be a once-off occurrence.

However, as part of our constant need to give back to the country that has given us so much, the TET team has decided that we shall be donating all our Activities proceeds to the fire appeal, at Red Cross.

We have set a modest target of $5,000.00, as we aren't sure how much people will support us at the festival, an event that is incongruous to the huge disaster unfolding.

Make no mistake, we are fully aware of how strange it is to have such an event, whilst the country burns. But I'd like to think that with this fundraising element, it becomes more of a gesture to support all those brave men and women who are firefighting at the moment and all those who have lost something at the start of the year and less one of celebration.

This event is now a gesture of support to all those who have lost something in this horrific start to the year.

Rest assured that if there is any other way we will incorporate fund-raising elements into our event, we shall be announcing and providing transparency on all aspects of it, on this blog and our social media feed leading up to the festival, as well as after.

These mega-fires are the worst we have ever seen, and there is little doubt in the team's mind that we should be actively contributing through donations to the fire appeal. Every single dollar, will be donated. Every hour we spend entertaining kids and working hard to make sure they have a good time, will be in honour of the bushfire victims.

We won't rest, until we hit our target, because those out there near the fire, aren't resting either.

Our heart goes out to all those volunteer firefighters who have never stopped fighting, and showing immense courage and bravery despite all the hardships, from above and on the ground.

You make our volunteer hours look paltry and small in comparison, and there is no doubt in our mind, who the real heroes of this festival are. It is you, for keeping the fires away, and millions of Australian's homes, lives and property safe.

We can't abandon our fellow Australians, not when they never abandoned us and treated us like family when we first came here.

2020 is the year of the Rat, and the 45th year of settlement for Vietnamese-Australians. What better way to announce that we are grateful, than by giving back?

So please come to the festival, and support the bushfire appeal.

We promise that every single dollar you spend out our numerous children activities, from the rat race, to the bau cua, will go the bushfire appeal at Red Cross.

I would say Happy New Year, but we all know this isn't true.

Instead I would like to sign off by saying, let's have a Busy New Year.

Because let's get busy helping others.
